Join together with Temple Israel of Greater Miami andChurch of the Open Door UCC to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in song and interfaith worship.
Friday, January 17 at 6:30 p.m.: Our “Service of the Heart,” led by Rabbi Tom Heyn, welcomes musical guest Lloyd Reshard, Jr., who will perform a number of gospel selections for the occasion. Reshard has been a featured soloist throughout South Florida, including appearances with the MasterWorks Chorale of West Palm Beach, Naples Opera Guild, Guava Rugelach Festival and the Klezmer Company Orchestra, as well as singing at Temple Israel’s High Holy Day services the past two years. This special 45-minute Shabbat musical service will spark your spirit and senses.
Friday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m.: Join us for our Shabbat Evening Service with Rabbi Tom Heyn and Musical Director Alan Mason. We are delighted to have with us Church of the Open Door’s Senior Pastor, Dr. R. Joaquin Willis, who will address the congregation. We also will welcome musical guest Lloyd Reshard, Jr. (please see above) joined by our own Temple Israel Singers. An Oneg and schmoozing follow. Families are always welcome at our services; free childcare available.
Sunday, January 19 at 8 a.m. & 10:30 a.m.: Temple Israel members are invited to attend Church of the Open Door UCC‘s morning worship services (please note two different times offered) at which Rabbi Tom Heyn will speak. The church is located at 6001 NW 8th Ave., Miami.
